Great video thanks. I’m not a professional only a home user but I love ubuntu. I installed it on a 7yr old laptop with a 20gb hard drive and 1256 ram. I mostly use it as a media centre. I’ve connected it too an av amp through a soundblaster usb box and use an external hard drive for my media. Everything sounds and works great.

Thank you

  • Eli the Computer Guy

Its an rasy process as long as your hardware is ok… Your computer may have hardware issues you dont know about. Try installing it on a different PC.

Hey Eli, I have followed the exact installation procedure of Ubuntu Server. The installation was successful but when I restarted my computer I couldn’t find Windows 7 in the Grub menu. I have tried tools like the Super Grub Disk to view to list of OSs on my harddisk but it was of no help. All that I could find was Ubuntu Server. I was wondering if there any possible solution to recover my lost Windows. Please help!
I look forward to hear from you as soon as possible.
Thanks in advance for your help.

  • Eli the Computer Guy

Peobably not… If you do dual boot you want to install Linux first and then Windows second… Or use a tool called Wubi…

Most likely when you installed linux you dleted the Windows partition

thanks for a great work that you share with the community. I found your videos since i am a user that wants to learn linux and some it. i had ubuntu and now i m with suse which i researched is better for the thinkpad. anyways i like to learn basic thinks like how to copy or burn the iso in the pendriver and make partitions. i read articles but they are all based on windows. they assume that you are in os windows trying to do thinks. i like to learn how to work in the suse console. is there any online course or videos as you have that you recommend or give me a tip please.

with your attitude you demonstrated that is possible bring thinks to people for free and at the same time make a profitable business. that is excellent. thanks for your time

Hey eli, ohhh i don’t know what’s the problem! but i’ve install ubutun server in virtual box as u taught us. but whenever i finish the installation and work on the system, then shut it down, the next day if i came to start the system it take’s me again to the installation page. why?

  • Eli the Computer Guy

Disconnect the iso file. You connected to it as a drive when you installed Ubuntu, and now everytime you boot it is booting off of the iso just like if you left the CD in the drive.

Hi Eli I tried installing both 64 and 32 bit but I get a message saying Network auto configuration failed. It then states that ( Your network is probably not using the DHCP protocol.

  • Kelvin

Hi Eli, I tried to install the 64 bit then the 32 bit and I get a message stating that My network is probably not using the DHCP protocol. What do I do in a case like this?
